The B.M.M.I story is one you might want to read:
After moving to Florida from Ohio over 30 years ago, Bob and Betty started their masonry operation in 1977 as a “mom and pop” business, with Betty doing the clerical “inside” work and Bob running the overall business and managing field operations. As their sons Ken and Rod grew, they began helping their parents out after school and on the weekends.
Along the way, Ken and Rod learned the structural concrete business inside and out, and from the ground up. There isn’t an aspect of the business – from the most menial job site chore to the most serious analysis on how to approach a challenging floor plan – that they haven’t had their hands in. They gained hands-on, training, experience and understanding of what it takes to get a job done – and get it done right.
Over the years, BMMI grew from a three-man crew run out of the Miller family home to a thriving business that has spanned three decades. Always forward-thinking, the Millers consistently expanded their services, products and expertise to meet the changing and increasingly demanding requirements of the construction industry.
In January 2000, Bob and Betty officially retired, selling the business to their two sons. In 2006, Ken and Rod in turn sold their stock to the employees of the business through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan ("ESOP")
Despite having sold their shares, Ken and Rod continue to run the business as it has always been run - by enhancing its reputation in the building community one customer at a time.
